Batesville Invests in the Future with New Burial, Cremation and Technology Solutions at the 2023 NFDA Convention & Expo

BATESVILLE, Ind., September 6, 2023 – Batesville is reaffirming its position as the industry’s innovation leader by presenting more than 55 new burial and cremation caskets, urns and containers at the 2023 National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Convention and Exposition, September 10 – 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company’s exhibit highlights the latest additions to its NewPointe® collection, a major expansion of cremation products, the engineering and design behind its dual disposition caskets, and offers a preview of Generations™ by Batesville, an exclusive line of sustainable caskets.

“Innovation is at the heart of Batesville’s culture, and we’re investing even more to deliver breakthrough burial, cremation and technology solutions that are grounded in research and reimagined to serve the next generation of families,” said Jenn Parvin, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer for Batesville.

In addition to an array of new burial and cremation products, visitors can see live demonstrations of Batesville’s free website platform, including the new Floral Select™ e-commerce offering, experience the convenience and efficiency of Batesville Connect®, explore the latest enhancements to its management software, and learn more about the expansion of the Living Memorial® program.

Optimizing cremation revenue

Nearly 60% of families in the U.S. choose cremation, so the right product mix and effective merchandising tools are essential for success. Batesville is taking a bold step to meet that demand with 50 new competitively priced urns, cremation containers and keepsakes. The company’s new product designs, materials and styles were shaped by the results of a comprehensive consumer research study completed earlier this year.

“We continue to see that services drive the sale of cremation products and help funeral homes close the revenue gap vs. burial,” said Parvin. “Long-term financial success depends on the ability to fulfill more cremation services, and that is best achieved by consistently educating families about their product options and looking for ways to sell a casket or urn with every service.”

The company’s Cremation Tributes Guide is a free tool to educate and empower families in their choices as they go through the arrangement process.

Generations by Batesville – honor a life, sustain the next

More consumers are considering the environmental impact of products they purchase, and caskets are no exception. That is the driving force behind Generations by Batesville, a new line of sustainable caskets exclusively from Batesville. Available nationwide in October 2023, every Generations casket is sustainably sourced and environmentally conscious, using water-

based exterior finishes, natural cotton interiors and minimal metal components, while maintaining Batesville’s high standard of craftsmanship. Stop by the Batesville booth for a sneak peek at the first three products in this line and learn how you can increase profits and help sustain our planet for the next generation.

Quality and value at an affordable price

Batesville’s NewPointe collection includes a wide assortment of competitively priced, high-quality products with value-added features to help families create meaningful tributes to their loved ones. With the new Vega (18 gauge) and Aquarius (20 gauge) caskets, which feature velvet interiors and a decorative kit option, the collection has more than 70 models.

Special Exhibit – Dual disposition: Twice the functionality with 3x less metal waste

Looks can be deceiving. Batesville’s dual disposition caskets perform double duty as burial or cremation caskets, with four purposefully designed features that meet the same standards as their metal counterparts.

1.     Cardboard-coated bed liner

2.     Perforated Family Choices® panel

3.     Crematable lift system and wood bed, with a nylon lift screw

4.     Glass-filled nylon arms

In a side-by-side test, a Batesville dual disposition casket had 3x less metal than a similar competitive model before cremation and 3x less post-cremation metal waste. Examples of pre- and post-cremation waste will be shown in the booth, illustrating the clear difference of Batesville’s innovative engineering and design and the benefits to funeral homes, crematory operators and families.

The Living Memorial – 14.5 million trees and growing

Since 1976, the Living Memorial has helped more than 14 million grieving families. While nothing can erase the pain of losing a loved one, planting a tree in their memory can provide hope and inspiration for the future. Now, with more qualifying products and a new matching tree donation program, Batesville is expanding on that legacy. In addition to the complimentary Living Memorial tree that is a gift from Batesville and the funeral home, families can plant additional trees and Batesville will match their planting, tree for tree. More than a kind gesture of support, these living memorials have a positive impact on our environment for generations to come.
