Fire Hazard Alert: Reader Warns of Electrical Fire Danger in Crematory Lift
Do you own a Mobi Medical Crematory Battery-Powered Low-Profile Scissor Lift, model HDSL-B-LP? If you purchased this lift between May 24, 2022 and July 13, 2023, stop using it! According to the manufacturer, a significant wiring issue within this product could cause a fire within your facility.
A Connecting Directors reader shared with us the following notice that Mobi Medical sent to its network of dealers:
Mobi Medical is writing to inform you that it was recently made aware of an incident in which one of its Compact Low Profile Mortuary Lifts was involved in a fire reportedly related to an incorrectly positioned power cable that connects the battery to the motor. There were no reported injuries. Mobi Medical is unaware if this is an isolated event, but with an abundance of caution it is contacting you so that your product can be examined and, if necessary, have the issue corrected.

WHAT TO DO: Contact Customer Service Immediately at Mobi Medical, 1-800-577-4851, to verify if you have the incorrect wiring position. If so, Mobi Medical will arrange the inspection and make necessary corrections to the product wiring at no cost to you. For now, please do not use this product, and do not have the unit in its lowest position, raise the unit a foot or more and disconnect the negative black cable from the battery and do not use the product until we have validated and corrected the wiring, if applicable.
